I am particularly incompetent in understanding how these things work! I feel sure that for those who are more familiar with using and adjusting settings on computers that your existing instructions will be more than adequate. I do not even understand how to find or create m3u playlists etc, etc.Īnd so, apologies for the length of this posting but can someone tell me in a simple step by step guide whether I can indeed get internet radio with my existing set up. However, having looked at the user guide I'm afraid I am completely lost in terms of understanding the various options that are discussed. I have therefore reacquainted myself with minimserver and have downloaded minimstreamer which seems to indicate that it might be possible to get internet radio. Unfortunately, when I now try to use v-Tuner I get an error message saying the selected device doesn't support v-Tuner. I recently introduced a Matrix Audio X-Spdif device in order to convert the USB output from the Melco to feed the I2s inputs on my PS Audio Direct Stream Dac and have experienced an uplift in sound quality when used in this configuration controlled by the Melco HD app. I have controlled my music collection on the Melco by using either the Melco HD user app or Mcontrol HD without difficulty and have been able to play internet radio by using v-Tuner when using MControl. I own a Melco player which contains minimserver originally loaded by the dealer but which I've never knowingly used even though I was advised to install both minimserver and minimwatch on my windows 10 laptop which I did but quickly got lost when I tried to use it. This Wiki page provides more information on both although not necessarily upto date.1st post from new member with very limited computer understanding. Simoncn has provided some information for the latter. It's not clear from the above if you want to run a Windows media player or if you want to control a Windows UPNP media renderer from a tablet/phone. I presume that MinimWatch (or an equivalent Android app) will communicate with MinimServer 2 to browse the library and request the music I want to hear (tracks or playlists), but what software do I need on my Win10 PC to accept the data and redirect it (unmolested) to my DAC via the USB port? I would greatly appreciate any advice, or suggestions you may have to offer. I tried to research UPnP and ended up wrapped around the axle with external IP addresses, port mapping, etc., which I suspect I don't need anyway. I know that MinimServer 2 can access the music files and send the data over my local network, but to what? I need software on my PC to pull the music data off the network (a UPnP 'renderer' if I understand the documentation) and redirect the audio data to my DAC1 via the USB. Amazon Music is not my end goal, just a convenient test source. I want my digital music library on the NAS, so MinimServer 2 seems like a natural choice for a NAS resident music server. I intend to purchase a four bay Synology NAS, just haven't decided which one. ![]() My USB DAC is an older Benchmark DAC1, it uses the standard windows USB 2.0 driver. I confirmed that it can successfully stream via Amazon Music out a USB 2.0 port into my USB DAC and on to the analog equipment. ![]() I have built a small audio player PC in a mini-ITX case, running Windows 10 Home Edition (speed, local storage, and bandwidth are more than adequate).
